Korean is stressing me out right now. Today I had my first (out of five) tests. This test was a reading out loud test. I had to read two texts out loud from the book for all my classmates to hear, and it’s also the test I was most dreading to do because I know how nervous I get. And it’s not because it’s korean, it’s because I strongly dislike reading aloud in any language, especially when having people listening. I get super stressed out. The first text was chosen by our teacher, which was a good thing because for some reason I got a text that I was pretty confident in reading. And it went so well. So well, in fact, that I surprised myself. Then it came to reading the second text (which we could choose ourselves from the book) and I became so stressed out (because the stress hadn’t reached me fully during the previous text, and I’d managed to not let it grab hold of me) and I begin to stutter, I couldn’t read many word in a fluent way because my eyes wouldn’t focus and so on…. Disaster. Ugh. At least that part of the tests is over, and thank GOD for that.
Tomorrow we have speaking (마라기) and listening (둗기). I’m gonna be so pleased when they’re over. And also a bit more stressed because I only have the most difficult tests left then, which is; Writing and Reading Comprehension. This is because the tests are made so that if you misread something you answer the question completely wrong. And spelling mistakes count off your scores.
